The Official Movie of Wired Cola

So, the obsessions of Wired Cola are well known. Comedy. Sugar water. Cybermorphism. retro two-wheelers. And of course, Turner Classic Movies.

What's that, you say? TCM showed a Billy Wilder comedy starring James Cagney as a Coca-Cola executive in West Berlin? And his nemesis is an East German true believer driving a sidecar rig?

I am not here to pretend that One, Two, Three is the best movie ever, or even the best Billy Wilder film, or even the best Billy Wilder comedy. But if there is a movie that more perfectly captures the obsessions of Wired Cola, we cannot think of it.

The film is funny, though uneven. The comedy ranges from broad to merely silly. Since I hate communism, the anti-communist jokes were especially funny to me. The film also has a surprisingly comprehensive inventory of smart dressing for the early 1960s, and for that alone it's worth the time.

Hey, Billy Wilder. Can you really go very far wrong?
